Double the rates of a couple miles down the street towards Bloomington. We lived in 930 sq ft mobile home with propane-only heat and barely used AC. We paid $2289 for the year ($6.27 per day!) If we turned everything off it was still $3-4 per day. If you are thinking about moving the the area, consider the high cost of REMC electric. They "force" people into prepaid electric plan by charging high deposits ($700-1000) for standard electric plan. Literally 2 miles down the street Duke Energy would have cost us less than half. Again, all-propane heat and barely used AC = $2289 for the year in 930 sq ft house. Beware of high rates before signing lease/mortgage!

This company is estimated at charging $100 more per month than Duke Energy for the same home in same set up condition. They will disconnect the residence in the middle of winter when account holder moves out and then bill the "secondary" person who restarts the service which gets added to their bill a couple of years later if unable to contact primary adult at the residence.
UDWI REMC rips us off so Brian Sparks can give himself a $250,000 yearly salary. AND his secretary gets $100,000 a year! Even though they say REMC is customer owned and they only care about us they only really seem to care about lining their pockets!
